The Upper Guadalupe River Center (UGRC) Board recently adopted a three-phase approach to expedite the development of the UGRC Campus. This initiative means our community will be able to utilize the campus grounds and waterfront even sooner than before!
The Economic Improvement Corporation (EIC), together with the City of Kerrville, approved a sales tax revenue bond this past fall that provides $2.2 million in funding for Granger MacDonald Park, the 1.5 acres of the river center project that is on the waterfront of Nimitz Lake. This funding will create piers, a boardwalk, and river access points, including a large ramp and ecologically sensitive landscaping. All these features will greatly enhance the utilization of Nimitz Lake to benefit ALL Hill Country residents!
The UGRC Board of Directors has developed a Lake Land Campaign to purchase 1.6 acres adjacent to Granger MacDonald Park. The campaign aims to raise $395,000 by the fall of 2024 to fund the land purchase and necessary upfront site work costs. This land acquisition is crucial to fully ignite the UGRC’s River Center plans. This time-sensitive opportunity allows the Hill Country community to show their enthusiasm for this transformative project and make a significant impact by becoming a founding Lake Land Campaign donor.
Support from our community is needed now! UGRC’s Lake Land Campaign donors of $2500 and above will be recognized in perpetuity on our donor recognition board. The board will be prominently displayed at the UGRC's campus entrance, and important visitor information about navigating Nimitz Lake and the surrounding area will also be displayed. This is an opportunity to be forever memorialized and make a big splash as a founding donor for this project. Your support will help us secure the land for OUR lake and make this vision for Kerrville a reality!
September 10, 2024—The Upper Guadalupe River Center (UGRC) has successfully surpassed its Lake Land Campaign fundraising goal, securing $400,000 in just three months to purchase 1.6 acres adjacent to Granger MacDonald Park. The funds will cover both the land acquisition and the initial site work for the non-profit’s transformative project to establish a Guadalupe riverfront park and gathering space on the banks of Nimitz Lake.
We extend our heartfelt thanks for our donors' generous contributions to the Lake Land Campaign. Their support is paving the way for our River Center - an asset that promises to enrich our community for generations. With these generous gifts, we are creating a welcoming space for respect and enjoyment of our beautiful riverfront. Their early commitment not only builds a vibrant community hub but also honors the legacy of nature and heritage we cherish deeply. Thank you for making a lasting impact!
